Health Editor's Note: Black lung disease (coal workers' pneumoconiosis. black lung) is common in coal miners or anyone who works with coal. The inhaled coal dust builds up in the lungs and the body cannot remove it thus the body's response is inflammation, fibrosis (harding if tissues) and possibly necrosis or death of lung tissues.
